Well, I'm sure most of you know that I am a BIG fan of local music in the Orlando, Florida area. I've always liked being a part of up and coming, hard working musicians/entertainers. If there is a way I can help them...I'll try...
Photographing bands such as 'megaphone', 'Ed Dumas', 'The Julie Lyon Quartet' and many, many others, is fun and very rewarding to say the least.This past weekend was the 2007 Florida Music Festival in Downtown Orlando. 3 nights of music from 250 bands and musicians. There was something there for everyone.
On Saturday night, my video guy, John and my wife (who is also my lovely assistant) heading right over to the main stage at Wall Street Plaza to get a look at and photograph Cori Yarckin. Man, this chick can belt it out. Nothing comes close to this woman when it comes to entertaining and handling any issues like a pro.
Her band is tight and powerful to say the least. Songs of strength and emotion are set to pop like rock and roll. Catchy, hooky, and just plain fun.
I wish them the best...

Matt Bloodwell put a band together awhile ago, 'megaphone', with some GREAT musicians... Knowing Matt for quite a few years... I know he hand picked these guys. He would not settle for second best. James Woodrich - bassist/vocalist, Stong, powerful, punchy, and full of electricity. A real showman. Paul Smith, damn dude...what a guitar player... A "REAL" guitarist that can lay down a lead with a melody that fits the song like a glove.
Scott Smith - Drummer. Being Paul Smith's brother doesn't send him to the back seat at all. This hard hitting power house is the driver of this rock and roll roller coaster. This guy does not give up. Steady and strong... He just makes woman want to dance!!!
Matt Bloodwell - Guitarist, Front man, Vocalist... (and yes, he is still a KILLER drummer) commands the show in true Rock Star style. No B.S.... just fun... thanking people for hanging around to listen and paying attention.
The crowd that night was so loud when these bands came on. People throwing thier hands up, screaming and wanting more.
Megaphone is no doubt a top notch arena band. Someone needs to set these guys up with a deal, put them on tour and let the rest of the world see just what they can do.
